Aim
To provide an overview of current evidence regarding the prevention and treatment of osteoporotic fragility fractures and the application of this evidence to practice.

Intended learning outcomes
Having completed this workshop you should be able to:

• identify patients requiring an assessment of osteoporotic fracture risk and discuss how this risk is calculated
• discuss the treatment options for the primary and secondary prevention of osteoporotic fragility fractures
• review the most recent safety advice from the MHRA in relation to treatments for the prevention of osteoporotic fractures and potential impact on current practice
• identify patients for whom a "drug holiday" may be appropriate and understand how this can be done practically within primary care
• work alongside other healthcare professionals to optimise patient care.

For Whom
All pharmacists, GPs or nurse prescribers who prescribe or inform the prescribing of drugs for the management of osteoporosis.

Please note that ACP workshops are half day session and will run in the morning (10am - 1pm) and in the afternoon (2pm - 5pm) at each venue. In total, there are TEN ACP: Osteoporosis workshops on offer. Please take care to ensure that you apply for the session that you wish to attend.
